The book is a life advisor written by 81-year-old Margrit Schäppi based on her own life story. Before publication, she took her life with the aid of a Swiss assisted suicide organisation. This prompted Matthias Ackeret not only to arrange for it to be published, but also to write an epilogue in which he harshly criticises the Swiss assisted suicide model.

In 2015, 14-year-old Valentina Maureira self-recorded a video pleading with Chile’s president to authorize her euthanasia, because she was tired of living with cystic fibrosis. The video went viral, drawing a presidential visit, igniting right-to-die debates, and shaping legislative proposals. Yet, the legislative effort stalled, and Chile’s penal code still criminalizes assisted dying.
