On May 26th, the Assisted Lab team held a research meeting with Simon Teune, a political sociologist specializing in protest and social movement studies. Teune is currently a researcher at the Collaborative Research Center "Intervening Arts" at Freie Universität Berlin, where his work focuses on the effects and expectations surrounding artistic interventions. To understand how activist and artistic collectives impact the world around them, Teune and his colleagues tracked various groups and their performances over an extended period. Utilizing a comprehensive mixed-methods approach that combined interviews, surveys, media analysis, and detailed mappings, his research investigates individual, situational, discursive, and institutional effects. Both the specific actor constellations and the broader discursive constellations were found to be crucial factors in the impact of artistic interventions.
