In the edited volume Contributions suisses au XVIIe congrès mondial des slavistes à Paris, août 2025, Alexander Meienberger’s chapter examines how illness is represented and negotiated in contemporary Russian literature. His contribution focuses in particular on Oksana Vasjakina’s trilogy, offering a close reading of literary narratives that engage with illness, the body, and vulnerability. Drawing on approaches from the medical humanities, he demonstrates how Vasjakina’s works function as exemplary case studies. The texts not only depict and critically reflect experiences of illness, but also develop new literary languages for articulating both personal and collective experiences in moments of medical crisis.
