Carlos A. Pittella presented at “MED METHODS—Experimental Research & Teaching Methods in the Medical Humanities & the Philosophy of Medicine,” a transdisciplinary event held at Bielefeld University, on March 6, 2026. Pittella’s intervention was titled “Expiring visas: Outlining the right to die through border-crossing narratives in Spanish and Portuguese.” His workshop invited participants to reimagine the bureaucratic borders of assisted dying, inspired by cultural objects reviewed in Assisted Lab’s Archive. The participants created a collective representation of MAiD as a border-crossing, reflecting on questions such as: what do we want to happen on the other side; what do we want to gain or avoid; what are we willing to part with or not; how would we like our border-crossing stories to be told?
