Carlos A. Pittella (2026), building on an image by Isaxar (2010)
Carlos A. Pittella presented on his research to a group of HSG students and members of the Assisted Lab team, on February 27, 2026. Pittella has collaborated with Assisted Lab since 2024, studying cultural objects from Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula that have influenced the legal debate on medical assistance in dying (MAiD). As his work (both academic and literary) engages with borders and bureaucracies, Pittella became interested in how MAiD is often framed as a border-crossing that requires a visa. The featured image displays key concepts Pittella highlighted from four case studies, each posing border-crossing questions relevant for MAiD: values, expectations, trade-offs, and narrative agency.
